The Venus School of Dance, formerly The Adcock School of Dance was established in 1963 by Miss Valerie Adcock who opened at the Hanham Folk
About Us
Welcome to the Venus School of Dance, based in Hanham, Bristol (UK). Our school is run by Kathy Millichamp and her team of dedicated teachers and assistants at Hanham Methodist Church.
The school runs children’s classes in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and street dancing as well as ballet and tap for adults.
The school is extremely fortunate in having such loyal, dedicated and well-qualified teachers. Between them, they bring a wealth of knowledge from their associations with R.A.D (Royal Academy of Dance), BBO (British Ballet Organisation), I.S.T.D (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance) and A.R.I.S.D.A (Anglo Russe International Stage Dancing Association). This is coupled with their extensive performance experience in both amateur and professional productions with various theatre companies including pantomimes and cabaret shows.
Examinations in Ballet and Tap are offered approximately twice a year. The pupils follow the United Teachers of Dance (U.T.D) syllabus for exam work.
Regular ‘Open Days’ are organised for family to view pupils work, usually at the end of each term and dancers often perform at local school fetes and displays. Workshops are held throughout the year during school holidays when pupils are able to sample various activities including dance, singing & drama and arts & crafts.
Every 2 years the school holds a major show, performed over several days at the Hexagon Theatre, Kingsfield School, Bristol. All proceeds are donated to nominated charities.
